We had purchased a seemingly similar item for our dogs, and because it seemed to help a little, I looked for one for me. This product is advertised as for people and includes on the packaging a picture of a woman curled up on the pad. When the package arrived, same picture as advertised on Amazon of a woman curled on the pad HOWEVER all the documentation that came with the product refer to it as a GREEN PET product designed for pets. It does provide coolness for a time while pressure is exerted (lying down for example) but the fact that it was made for pets is a bit disconcerting if it doesn’t meet standards required for humans.

Though the cooling lasts 20 minutes or so, that is usually all I need. I bought 2 so I could alternate in the event of an extended need.No charging or refrigerator needed, i simply keep them on my bedside table.Great for travel as they fold easily, aren’t denied by TSA, and work by placing against my skin. Love them!
