Osprey’s History

Since Osprey’s founding in 1974, every single product design bearing the Osprey name has passed through the hands of owner and founder Mike Pfotenhauer, undergoing relentless scrutiny. From stitching the first lines of custom-fitted packs, to meticulously designing innovative products with intuitive features, to forging personal relationships with the sewing operators who construct the packs, Mike has been the unbreakable thread of the company.

It’s difficult to quantify how much this single item has changed my life! I got a crazy deal on it and if it was gone I would pay full price in a second for another! This bag can be medium size, large or huge. I’m a larger person and it fits me like a glove. It has storage pockets for anything you would want to store and it feels like a real life bag of holding, in the main compartment items smaller than a child will be offered to the abyss,it takes a moment to retrieve items. It can handle an insane amount of weight and not feel “heavy “- its a strange phenomenon. All I can say is if you’re thinking about a bag like this ….. stop wasting time, this is absolutely amazing!! Don’t forget about Osprey’s warranty! – it is “the way”

Has to check it.Other things, it’s pretty good.

While it looks great, it is not easy to see inside the black bag in low light situations. If you didnt have a head lamp, finding things in a hurry might be tricky. Returned mine for the green color. Much lighter inside. Both bags arrived fast. This seller is on the ball! Good service.

We’re a family getting ready for a hike on the Long Trail. It’s 273 miles long and will take up to twenty days to complete. It’s on one bucket list, one retirement list, and has been hiked by many older generations of Vermonters for more than a century. And so, we need a backpack, a backpack that can go the distance. One friend, an ultra-marathoner, ran the trail in 10 days, but the most likely candidate in our family will be taking his time. It’s the dream and to achieve the dream, you need the best. I have one other Osprey and knew the capability. What’s great about this backpack is that it can be custom-fitted on the spur of the moment for different users. I can use it, a friend can use it, or yet another family member can use it. It’s really well-balanced and although it looks big, it’s big only in what it can do. The capability makes it a very versatile pack.If no one is on the Long Trail, it can be converted to a simple daypack by removing the top lid. This pack is for the trails, for the hike that’s going to take a couple of weeks or more. It’s got a 40-to-80-pound load range and a fabulous better than LL Bean warranty … for any reason, any product, any era. Just read up on the Osprey. Why settle for second best when it’s a one-time purchase?FEATURES:• Removable top lid converts to DayLid daypack• Included rain cover made with PFC-free DWR and bluesign®-approved materials• Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole attachment• Floating top lid with lash points• Integrated cover for lidless use• Dual front panel zippered pockets for easy-access storage• Large front panel zip access to main compartment• Fabric reinforced front shove-it pocket• Large dual-access stretch mesh side water bottle pockets• Dual upper/lower side compression straps• Dual front panel compression straps with compression• Dual zippered hip belt pockets• Dual ice axe loops with bungee tie-offs• Zippered sleeping bag compartment with removable divider• Removable sleeping pad straps• Internal hydration reservoir sleeve

  6. The Good Doctor!

If you follow me and read my reviews you will know that I have a great appreciation for Osprey Products and their extraordinary quality and utility, yet they always seem to be awesome looking as well!First, let me establish that their warranty is the best in the industry because it is highly unlikely you will every need it, but on the far outside chance that you do, you simply send it back or send a photograph of the damage and they will either repair or replace the product post haste… No matter how long we are talking about. THAT is a company that has the highest confidence in their products.Second, for full disclosure, I have not been compensated for this review, and I own SEVEN or more Osprey products. All that said, I did not have this particular size and design so I ordered it and WOW!! The design and function is only exceeded by the product appearance appeal! Truly exquisite design and engineering delivered perfectly in every way. This size is perfectly suited for its design and there is no wasted or frivolous space.Utterly masterful in how Osprey always seem to get it right. Funny story, my Son purchased another brand when shopping for travel gear and he asked my impression of the two products; the other brand and the Osprey product.I recommended the Osprey product and yet, my Son purchased the other big name brand. While he isn’t disappointed in that product, he is VERY envious of my Osprey products, so much so that I got him an awesome Osprey backpack and an Osprey Waist Pack and he is utterly flummoxed with the extraordinary quality and design. To be honest, so am I.Any of Osprey’s products solve many problems and no matter your adventure, you will get there better and happier with Osprey’s solutions, this being one of their very best!

This is an amazing pack. The configurability and quality of the build really stands out. I’ve recently been using more and more Osprey packs and have become a serious fan of the brand. My usage of the pack is limited unfortunately. I am returning to backpacking after many many years away and ordered this sized pack which turned out to be far far larger than I need. That is my mistake. My old pack was an original Gregory (before they sold to whomever) and I loved that pack. This pack is just phenomenally more advanced and configurable than my old pack. To the degree that I had to seek help to be sure I was doing it right. Felt like some senior looking at those newfangled mini-tv phones.Unfortunately I don’t have more feedback than this as my picking the wrong sized pack for my current needs. THOUGH… I aspire to needing a pack this size for some through hiking.
